Principal's Notes

  • The elementary school is seeing a lot of sickness, especially a gastrointestinal virus and influenza. The gastrointestinal virus symptoms can include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and sometimes fever. Influenza symptoms can include sudden onset of fever, cough, runny nose, body aches, headache.

It is school policy to keep your child home from school until 24 symptoms free, without the use of medication. (For example, your child had a fever of 101 degrees at 7:00 pm, you gave him Tylenol to bring the fever down. When he woke up in the morning, he did not have a fever. You still cannot send him to school until his fever is under 100 degrees without medication for 24 hours).

Please keep children home until fever, vomit, diarrhea, constant cough free for 24 hours without medication. If you are unsure or have questions, please call Nurse Mary at 515-386-3178. Thank you!
