Superintendent Search

The Greene County Community School District’s Board of Education is pleased to announce that they have selected two candidates to interview for their superintendent vacancy. The candidates selected for interviews are:

Brett Abbotts, Council Bluffs, Iowa – He is currently an elementary
principal in the Council Bluffs Community School District. Previously, he
was an Assistant Principal/Activities Director at AHSTW and a teacher in
the Southeast Polk Community School in Altoona, Iowa. 

Mike Van Sickle, Letts, Iowa – He is the superintendent of Louisa-Muscatine Community School District in Letts, Iowa. Prior to that, he was a principal in Ogden, Iowa, Perry-Lecompton Schools, Perry, Kansas and Hutchison, Kansas. He started his teaching career in Pinckey, Kansas. 

Interviews are scheduled to be conducted on March 29-30, 2022. Numerous stakeholder groups will have the opportunity to meet the final candidates and submit input to the board about each of them. The board intends to make their selection by April 1, 2022.

Greene County Community School District retained the services of McPherson &
Jacobson, L.L.C. to assist in conducting their search. The consultants reviewed,
screened, and conducted extensive background checks on twenty-three applicants. On
Wednesday, March 23, 2022, the consultants presented the applicants to the Board of
Education and provided them detailed background information on each applicant. The
board selected two candidates as finalists.
