Samantha Hardaway with ISU Extension is working with the Greene County Career Academy to offer career exploration camps for the youth of Greene County. The month of September is for the culinary and hospitality career strand.
The first camp was held on Monday, September 12th, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Greene County Career Academy. We had 14 first, second, and third graders join us for this fun event.
Family and Consumer Instructors Julie Kennedy and Denise Moranville taught the students sanitation skills and basic knife skills, and then they showed them how to make some healthy snacks. The students prepared the snacks and got to eat them before they went home.
Our next culinary camp is for students in grades fourth through eighth and will be held this coming Monday, September 19th, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. To sign up, please call ISU Extension at 515.386.2138.
