Education Career Exploration Camp

Eleven students in grades 1-3 joined us for an education career exploration camp on March 23rd. We worked with instructor Deb Marquardt and her education students to organize activities for the afternoon.

We started by having the book "A Teacher Like You" read to them. Next, we discussed all of the careers connected to the education strand. They were surprised how many different careers there are right here in our school district.

Students were then asked to think of a favorite school person who has made an impact in their lives. They were given five strips of paper to write positive comments. These strips were then folded up and put into a thank-you jar which the students designed. We had stickers, ribbons, flowers, and bows for them to decorate their thank-you jar. Students took this home with them to deliver to their favorite person today.

Students then had some physical activity by playing "May I Cross the Ocean" with Samantha Hardaway.

We are offering culinary career exploration camps in April. Students in grades 1-3 will be on April 17th which is ISU Extension Week, and students in grades 4-8 will be on April 24th. Sign up by calling ISU Extension at 515.386.2138.
