If you have an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree, or at least 60 credit hours of college coursework, you are eligible to take the Substitute Authorization Course. Greene County Community School District is in need of substitutes, and this course is a great opportunity to help our community. The Area Education Agency (AEA) offers an online option for the Substitute Authorization Course. However, we understand that some individuals might prefer in-person learning. If we receive 10 or more applicants, we can arrange for an AEA representative to teach the course in-person. Please note that you will be responsible for the cost of the course. Details on how to sign up and specific dates will be provided once you express your interest. Here is the cost breakdown for the Substitute Authorization: Class: $100 Book: $25 Processing: $85 LEC Fingerprinting: $25 Local Background Check (BoEE): $35 Federal Background Check (paid directly to Fieldprint): $40 For any questions or to express your interest in the course, please contact Chelse Sanderson at sandersonch@greenecountycsd.net.

This past Tuesday, 24 4th grade students in Greene County Elementary were given brand new bikes. The bikes were purchased by Jefferson Telecom and given to any 4th grade student who didn’t have one. After the bikes were passed out, a story was shared by Jamie Daubendiek expressing the importance of wearing a helmet. In 2010, Jamie’s sister, Jenny, was struck by a car moving at a high speed and her helmet saved her life. The bike remains were salvaged and have been added to a display to create a powerful visual. We very much appreciate the generosity of Jefferson Telecom. Thank you for this wonderful gift to our students!
