Thank you to our amazing parents for the thoughtful floats and ice cream sundae treats for our staff yesterday! Your kindness and generosity meant so much to all of us.
We truly loved the desserts and enjoyed taking a moment together to celebrate and feel appreciated. This brightened our day and reminded us how fortunate we are to be part of such a supportive school community.
Thank you again for thinking of us and for all you do to support our staff and students throughout the year!

With only a couple of school days left, please take a few minutes to review and complete! Have a great Summer!

Embark on a journey to the past of Jurassic proportions with "Unearth a Story", the Jefferson Public Library 2026 Youth Summer Reading Shin-Dig!
"Shin-dig"? Yes, you read that right. They're changing things up this year. Kids and teens who sign up receive a "field journal" and a sticker...then continue to receive small prizes throughout the summer for every 140 minutes that they log! The more you read, the closer you get to their grand prize drawings.
Even better, summer programs are now open to the public! Enjoy "excavation digs", visits from Blank Park Zoo and the Science Center of Iowa, after-hours movie nights, and more planned this summer.

Elementary and middle school students lined the hallways to cheer on the seniors as they made their way through the buildings one last time as Greene County students.

Congratulations to the Class of 2026!
We truly appreciate the continued support from local businesses that care so much about our students, staff, and community. Partnerships like these help make special experiences possible for our kids, and we are incredibly grateful for their generosity and willingness to give back.
In addition to today, Midwest Prime has also generously donated all of the meat for the teachers’ meal next Friday. Their kindness and support for Greene County schools does not go unnoticed.
Thank you again to Midwest Prime for supporting Greene County students and schools!

Join us tomorrow morning for Bike to School Day! We’ll be leaving from the Hy-Vee parking lot at 7:45 AM.
We are so fortunate to live in a community that comes together for kids and continuously supports our school. 🚲 This is one quality that makes Greene County so special!
A huge THANK YOU from the GCE 4th graders and staff!

At Greene County Elementary, our teachers are true GAME CHANGERS! ✨ Every day they go above and beyond to support, inspire, and make a difference in the lives of our students.
We have a fun week planned to celebrate our amazing staff, but we’d love your help too—if you see one of our teachers this week, take a moment to say THANK YOU for all they do!
We are so lucky to have such an incredible team at GCE! ❤️🖤

In April, we had the opportunity to celebrate our incredible secretaries Jackie and Kate at Greene County Elementary—and we couldn’t let it pass without another THANK YOU!
From the first phone call of the day to the last student out the door, you keep everything running smoothly. Your organization, patience, and care for students, staff, and families do not go unnoticed.
We are so grateful for all that you do to support our school each and every day. GCE is better because of you! ❤️🖤

Yesterday we celebrated our kitchen staff—the true lunch heroes of Greene County Elementary! Thank you for showing up every day to keep our students fueled and ready to learn.
We had so much fun this week trying to guess who was who from their childhood pictures—what a great way to celebrate these ladies!
We appreciate everything you do for our kids each and every day. You make a difference, and we are so grateful for you! ❤️🖤

Can’t make it in person? We’ll also be livestreaming the performance on the GCCSD Activities YouTube page so you can enjoy the show from anywhere: https://www.youtube.com/live/NVvmePF_i7M
Please note, due to copyright restrictions, this concert will NOT be archived on YouTube and will only be shown live.
We hope to see you there for an evening of great music and celebration of our students’ hard work!
