Greene County Career Academy culinary students prepared white chicken chili this morning. They used rotisserie chicken and topped each bowl off with jalapenos, fresh cilantro, avocado, and fresh lime. They served it with tortilla chips. It was delicious!

Three students from Greene County FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) competed at State Leadership Conference in Cedar Rapids on March 29, 30, and 31st. Ella Ostrander competed in Customer Service objective test and role play and received a walk on the stage in 9th place. Ella also competed in Financial Statement Analysis. Michael Ciesla competed in Impromptu Speaking and Cybersecurity. The team of Ella Ostrander, Michael Ciesla, and Chris Hankel also competed in the Spelling Relay. Students attended workshops and career fairs too. 1200 people were in attendance at the conference.

GCHS's Mrs. Dena Boyd and her Iowa History classes are doing great things to honor fallen Rippey Schoolboy Soldiers. Iowa Public Television will release the entire segment around Memorial Day. Here is a clip they released recently. Stay tuned for more on this extraordinary project. GCMS 8th graders participated in "Freshmen Launch" this week by visiting Greene County High School. High school students led tours where 8th graders heard about various elective courses offered at GCHS. It was a great morning to help them prepare for their next chapter at GCHS.

The annual Pops Concert is tonight in the High School Auditorium!
High school groups including the jazz choir, jazz band, concert choir, and concert band will perform, with some groups highlighting the music of The Beatles!
Doors will open at 7:00 PM and the concert will begin at 7:30 PM.
There is no cost to attend, and everyone is welcome.
The concert will also be live streamed on the GCCSD Activities YouTube Channel at the link below.

The Greene County Activities Department will be inducting five individuals to the Greene County High School Fine Arts Hall of Fame on Saturday, March 7. A public reception will be held in the high school commons starting at 4:00 with an induction ceremony at 4:30 in the auditorium. This is a free event, and the public is invited to attend.

GCHS students in Skills USA, FFA & FCCLA student organizations participated in the 2026 Career Tech Education Day at the Capitol in Des Moines on Thursday, February 19.
Students had the opportunity to talk with Senator Jesse Green & Representative Carter Nordman regarding the importance of Career Tech Education while we were there. Students also had the opportunity to see displays from many student organizations from around the state.
We also delivered a large collection of pop tabs to the Ronald McDonald House. Taylor Ross and Mia Murphy are working on a project for FCCLA and have been collecting the pop tabs.
