Dear GCHS Families and Community Members,
Homecoming is a special time for our students and community, filled with spirit, tradition, and celebration. While we want everyone to enjoy the week’s events, we also want to make sure that fun does not come at the expense of safety.
In recent years, the long-standing tradition of “TPing” has grown beyond simple rolls of toilet paper and has unfortunately involved unsafe behaviors such as:
*Large groups of vehicles traveling at high speeds
*Ignoring stop signs and other traffic laws
*Using items other than toilet paper (food, forks, toothpicks, foil, etc.) in yards
*Students imposing on unwanted community members' homes
These activities create dangerous conditions and cause unnecessary damage to property. Together with the Jefferson Police Department and the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, we are committed to addressing these concerns with seriousness and consistency this year.
Here’s how you can help:
*Talk with your students about the importance of celebrating safely and respecting others’ property.
*Report unsafe driving or suspicious activity to local law enforcement right away.
*Model for our students how we can support tradition without compromising safety.
We want Homecoming to be remembered for its positive moments: the parade, the games, the school spirit, and the shared pride in our community. By working together, we can keep the focus on celebrating safely.
Thank you for doing your part to keep our community safe, respectful, and proud.
With appreciation,
Karen Shannon
GCHS Principal

They started by grilling boneless flat-iron steak that had been marinated overnight. Next, they grilled red and green bell peppers and onions until the onions were caramelized. They tossed the steak and veggies and then topped this with provolone cheese before putting the mixture on their hoagie rolls. They toasted the rolls in the oven before serving them.

The Greene County FFA Crop Plot looks great and we owe a huge THANK YOU to these local individuals and businesses: NEW Coop, Greene County Agronomy Services, Home State Bank, Mitchell Anthofer (fungicide application), Mitch Stream (planting), Mike Richards (farm manager), and Ryan & Logan Higgins (mowing/baling grass hay). We greatly appreciate these partnerships and are excited for the future of Greene County FFA under the leadership of Mr. Steve Kehoe.

We look forward to welcoming everyone to the 2025-26 school year at GCHS on Monday!
