Dear Community Members and Supporters of Greene County Schools, During this week of Homecoming, the actions of very few of our high school students are leaving a negative impression of our high school as a whole. It is our desire to attempt to make this up to you by offering a community-wide clean up. GCHS students who would like to participate in this act of community service will be led in yard clean up tomorrow evening at 5:45 p.m. If you would like your yard cleaned up of debris left by GCHS students this week, please call the High School office at 515-386-2188 or email Mrs. Shannon at shannonk@greenecountycsd.net . We realize your frustration. We hope this act of community service will show our appreciation to all who support Greene County Schools. Thank you, Mrs. Shannon

Career academy healthcare instructor Lori DeMoss invited Deonne Robey into her classroom this week. Deonne is a PTA with 21st Century Rehab. She talked to the nurse aide students about body mechanics, transferring, ambulating, and positioning residents.

Dr. Leah Renwanz's Anatomy and Physiology I students in the career academy healthcare strand learned about the anatomy of a pig by dissecting them.

Chef D and her career academy culinary students put their knife skills to practice by making homemade ham and potato soup. It was so good!

We still have a few spots available for today's class.

There is a large-scale cell phone carrier issue that is preventing cellular numbers from calling local numbers. As a result, most incoming cellular calls to the school are currently failing. This is a great way to stay informed!

Good afternoon Ram Families,
The 24-25 school year is off and running and we have had a great first few days of school and we are looking to continue those moving forward.
Fall MAP Testing Next Week
Next week will mark the beginning of our Fall MAP Testing. All students in Kindergarten through 11th will complete these assessments and give us our baseline of where are students are at, what direction we need to go with their learning, and set growth and achievement targets to ensure their success for the rest of the school year. We are excited to see all of the great progress that our students are going to make!
As for Homecoming Week
On Friday, September 20th, Greene County Schools will have a 2-hour early dismissal at ALL schools. This will provide our families the time to get their students to the parade and events that happen prior to our homecoming football game without the need to miss additional instruction or schoolwork.
Two Hour Early Dismissal times for all buildings are as follows:
Elementary - 1:25pm
Middle School - 1:30pm
High School - 1:23pm
Thank you for your partnership with our schools and we are looking forward to a successful 24-25 school year! Go Rams!

GCHS students and staff are excited to have Nick "Sunshine " Tokman visiting GCHS next week! From the boats of "Deadliest Catch" to inspiring people across the nation, we are grateful for the support of Home State Bank and BOOST to make this possible!

Athletic Practice Adjustments for 8/26

Friendly reminder that bus pick up and drop off times are approximate. It may take a week or two for drivers and riders to learn each other's routines.
A couple things to note:
Our Westwood bus stop location has been moved to Westwood & Rushridge (west loop). Since this is a late change, the town route bus driver will be mindful of students who may be waiting at the old Hickory stop for the first couple of days.
On "Monday-early-out" days your bus rider will be dropped off at their normal bus stop approximately 2 hours earlier. For example - if the normal bus drop off time is 4:23pm, the "early-out" drop off time will be approximately 2:23pm (two hours earlier).
Thank you in advance for your patience!

The GCHS Senior Class of 2025 is ready to lead the way this school year! Many of them spending their last morning of summer break, together, at a beautiful sunrise on school grounds. It's going to be a great year!!

GCHS teachers had the pleasure of a great training by Mary Clancy from Iowa State Extension. We learned so much about ourselves and others. This training will benefit relationships and communication among teachers and students, teachers and families, and among collogues.

GCHS Open House was a huge success! It was great to have the halls of GCHS filled with our students and families. Thank you to all who attended!
