Dear Ram Families,
This morning, our middle school was briefly placed in a hold for approximately 17 minutes while a random and unannounced K9 sweep was conducted in coordination with the Greene County Sheriff’s Department. The K9 unit worked through the hallways as part of our ongoing efforts to maintain a safe and secure learning environment for all students and staff.
We want to assure you that the hold was implemented as a precautionary safety measure and that there was no threat to students or staff at any time. Classes continued within classrooms during the hold, and normal operations resumed shortly afterward.
We are grateful for the continued partnership with Greene County law enforcement, and we appreciate their proactive support in helping us ensure the safety of our schools.
Thank you for your understanding and continued trust in our district.

🎶 What an Amazing Experience! 🎶
Today our talented 5th–8th grade Band students had the incredible opportunity to participate in a Mega Band event, joining forces with our 9th–12th grade band to perform for our incoming 5th graders! 🎺🥁🎷
The goal? To give our future band members a real taste of the excitement, unity, and musical magic that comes with being part of the band family — and it was a huge success!
This event was more than just a performance — it was a true testament to the dedication, passion, and teamwork that Mr. and Mrs. Anderson and Mr. Palmer pour into our 5–12 band program every single day. 💚🎼
We are so proud of our students and staff for making this event such a memorable and inspiring experience!

Dear Ram Families,
It’s official: the last day of school will be Friday, May 23rd, with all schools dismissing at 12:30 p.m. So yes, your students will soon be free to sleep until noon and raid your pantry hourly—but not just yet.
We still have four glorious weeks ahead, packed with learning, laughter, and at least one surprise fire drill. Please remind your students (gently, or with snacks) that attendance still counts, and there's plenty left to accomplish before we high-five our way into summer.
Let’s finish strong—safely, joyfully, and maybe even a little ahead on our to-do lists.
Thanks for your support,
Mr. Abbotts, Superintendent
Greene County CSD

I’m convinced we have the BEST two secretaries on the planet! Seriously—these ladies are the glue that holds everything together at GCMS. They keep us running like a well-oiled machine, handle a million things at once, and still manage to do it all with a smile. I’d be completely lost without them! Superhumans isn’t even a strong enough word. Thank you both for being the heartbeat of our school—you make GCMS the best place ever! Thank you Heather and Nikkie for all that you do!! ❤️🫶🏼🖤

Friendly reminder (fee statements went out in the mail on Friday, 4/18)!

🚍💛 Greene County Schools are Celebrating Our Everyday Heroes! 💛🚍
Today, we roll out a huge THANK YOU to our incredible bus drivers who safely transport our students to and from school every day! 🛑✨
Your dedication, patience, and care create a journey filled with safety and care. You are often the first friendly face students see in the morning and the last to wish them a great evening — and that matters more than words can say.
👏 Let's all take a moment to appreciate the drivers who make sure the wheels on the bus keep going 'round and 'round
