Picture Day is coming on Wednesday September 24th! 😁✨
Make sure your Rams are ready to flash those smiles and show their school spirit! 🐏
🌍💧 Our 7th grade Literacy and Social Studies classes teamed up this week for a powerful real-life learning experience!
In Literacy, students are reading A Long Walk to Water, while in Social Studies they are studying Sudan, water quality, and water scarcity. To bring their learning together, students participated in a simulation to better understand the challenges faced by people like Nya in the novel.
When asked, “What did you like about our simulation?”, students shared:
👉 “Getting a workout.”
👉 “Going outside.”
👉 “This is not a great simulation because Nya had it way harder.”
We are so proud of our students for making these real-world connections and recognizing the resilience of others. 💙 #RamPride #WhyNotGreeneCounty

We are so proud to recognize these students for their hard work, positive attitude, and dedication:
⭐ 5th Grade – Gracelyn T.
⭐ 6th Grade – Emma S.
⭐ 7th Grade – Mya W.
⭐ 8th Grade – Krista L.

No sports equipment will be allowed inside the stadium.
Students in 6th grade and below must be accompanied by an adult.
Students are expected to watch the game and not run around the facility.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping us create a positive game-day experience for our athletes, fans, and community. Thank you for your support, and we look forward to seeing you at the games!
Tomorrow we’re celebrating the big game in Ames! Students and staff are encouraged to wear their Hawkeye black & gold or Cyclone cardinal & gold to show their team pride. 🎉
Let’s see which side fills our halls with the most spirit—Hawks or Clones?
(Either way… it’s always Go Rams!
Hi 8th-grade families - Did you know Greene County Middle School offers the Skip the Trip program?
Skip the Trip is a program offered by the Iowa DOT that allows students to take the web-based driver's permit knowledge test at school instead of traveling to a DMV or county treasurer's office, making the process more convenient for families and potentially reducing congestion at service centers. Students who pass the test receive an email verification and then make an appointment at a DMV to complete the process and be issued their instruction permit.
Your student can study now and take the test up to 30 days before their 14th birthday. They just need to stop in the middle school library to set up a time to take the test. More information, including the online manual and practice test, can be found at the link below.

We’re excited to welcome Bridgette Skalla to the Greene County Middle School team as our new Middle School Secretary! 🏫✨
Bridgette is originally from Panora, Iowa and graduated from Panorama Community School. She attended DMACC for Human Services and went on to earn her Bachelor’s in Social Work from Buena Vista University.
When she’s not working, Bridgette’s favorite “hobby” is being a mom. She also enjoys gardening and supporting her kids in both sports and competitive livestock showing. Her family recently celebrated a huge achievement—her son won Overall Champion Breeding Heifer at the Iowa State Fair! 🐮🏆 They also had the honor of participating in the Governor’s Charity Steer Show, where they met Governor Kim Reynolds.
This school year, Bridgette is most excited to bring her enthusiasm and passion for working with youth to our district—especially since her own children attend Greene County Schools!

We’re so excited to welcome Avery Walker as our new School Nurse here in Greene County! 🩺❤️
Avery is Greene County born and raised (Go Rams! 🐏) and graduated from Iowa Central Community College. She’s always known she wanted to be a nurse—helping others has been her calling from the very start.
When she’s not caring for others, Avery enjoys reading, crafting, writing, spending time with family and friends, and getting delightfully “lost” in Hobby Lobby. 🎨📚🛒 She shares her home with an Australian shepherd puppy named Max and two cats, Sookie and Paris—making her house feel like a fun, furry zoo! 🐶🐱🐱
This year, Avery is excited to embrace a new area of nursing in the very school district she once attended.
Fun facts:
☕ Needs coffee through an IV
📚 Believes “the books are always better”
🌙 100% night owl
💬 Favorite quote: “You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”
Welcome home, Nurse Walker! We’re so lucky to have you back in Rams country! ❤️🖤
