✨ Building Community Through Peer Mentoring ✨
We are excited to celebrate the success of the first round of our Middle School Peer Mentoring Program! 💙
Over the past 8 weeks, 12 eighth-grade mentors were thoughtfully paired with 18 fifth- and sixth-grade students. These groups met weekly, building connections and learning together through engaging activities and lessons focused on communication, responsibility, and inclusion.
Our mentors led by example, creating a welcoming space where younger students felt supported, heard, and encouraged—while our mentors gained leadership skills and confidence along the way. From meaningful conversations to hands-on activities (and a little fun along the way!), this program truly strengthened our middle school community.
We are so proud of all the students who participated and grateful for the positive impact they are making on our school culture. 💫

GCHS SkillsUSA is running a fundraiser to help pay for conference registration and competition fees for the year. The students have been hard at work creating Christmas and Winter decor. Since these are hand made there are limited quantities of each for sale, but we are making more everyday. This will be a cash only sale. The Large Snowflakes will be $50, The Christmas Trees will be $20 with ornaments, and The Reindeer will be $15 for 1 or $25 for a set of 2.
These will be for sale during the home sporting events next week. Tuesday Basketball, Thursday Wrestling, and Friday Basketball.

Mrs. Dzuris’s class went all in for GCMS Ugly Sweater Day! She hosted an epic “Ugliest Sweater” contest in each of her four cores, and the students decided the winners. Let’s give a big GCMS shoutout to our festive champions:

There will be no morning preschool and no morning activities. Breakfast will be available, free of charge, at all buildings for all students. Please use the additional time to travel safely to school.

This week on The Cave, the girls get into the holiday spirit by talking about Thanksgiving traditions, Christmas break plans, and what’s on their wish lists this year. They also share a quick basketball update and what’s been happening on the court. It’s a fun, festive episode you won’t want to miss!

💥🔬 Students in Ms. Dzuris's 7th grade science class are putting their chemistry skills to the test! Today, they explored chemical reactions to solve real-world problems by investigating MREs (Meals Ready-to-Eat). Some brave scientists even took a bite… though most weren’t exactly asking for seconds! 😆🍽️ Science can be adventurous—and a little tasty… or not!
❄️ 12 Days Before Winter Break! ❄️
We’re kicking off 12 festive spirit days starting Thursday, December 4th! These dress-up days are totally optional, but we can’t wait to see our students show off their holiday creativity and school spirit.
We’ll wrap it all up with a 2-hour early release on Friday, December 19th as we head into Winter Break!

Mrs. Brophy’s 7th Grade Literacy Takes on the Library!
Our 7th graders had a fantastic visit to the public library! Youth Services Director, Bailey, welcomed students and introduced them to a variety of literacy genres. After learning about each one, students voted for their favorites — and their choices will help guide new additions to the Young Adult section!
Some students also signed up for the library’s digital service, giving them access to books right from home.
They wrapped up their visit in the Children’s Section, where students explored the puppet area, played games, and got creative at the activity table. So much hands-on fun and learning! 🎨🤹♂️
A huge thank you to the library team for an engaging and memorable experience for our GCMS students!

🦃🚗 Nothing like a surprise turkey sighting to start the school day!
If you were a little alarmed pulling into car rider drop-off yesterday morning… don’t worry — that giant turkey roaming the sidewalk wasn’t wild at all!
He flew a little too close to the office, and we were able to “catch” him — turns out it was just our 8th grade math teacher, Mr. Bekkerus, spreading some pre-break joy!
