First of all, thank you to all of the students who came to MS AP this school year. Also, thank you to the parents, grandparents, siblings, neighbors, and anybody else who helped get their student to the school in the mornings. The motivation and dedication to be at the school before anyone else is something to be celebrated and admired. That type of work ethic will help bring them success both in sports and in life. We also want to give a special thanks to this year’s 8th graders. When we first started MS AP last school year, the largest group of students who initially bought in to what we were doing was this group, along with some others. A culture of showing up, having fun, and working hard has been established, and this group of 8th graders has played a huge part in that. We wish them the best as they continue their journey at the high school level, and we look forward to all of their successes. Another special thanks goes out to Mr. Merk as he will no longer be teaching at GCMS in the fall. He was a huge part of getting our MS AP program started and keeping it going strong. His passion for helping kids will continue to benefit the students of GCMS for years to come. We are lucky to get to keep him as our HS Girls Track coach. Below is information on our summer AP schedule. Any student entering 6-8th grades are welcome to attend. We will have AP on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 7:00. Doors will open at 6:45. Six Greene County athletes represented our school with pride at the State Middle School Track Meet held at Waukee Northwest High School on Saturday, May 10! Makenzie Wahl and Delaney Pedersen competed in field events, while Alaina Gettler, Macy Bills, Estella Karber, and Mya Miller ran in three relays. A huge congratulations to Delaney, who brought home the title of State Champion in the 7th Grade Small School High Jump! Our 8th Grade 4x100m Relay Team also had a strong showing, finishing 5th overall out of 26 teams in the Small School Division!
