With rain predicted for Friday morning, we are moving the 5/6 color run to 12:45 on Friday. A few things that we must have your students do in order to be prepared and ready for this fun event: If your student is going to participate please have them bring their Field Day shirt or shirt they plan to wear. We need to get them damp prior to the event. We will dampen them and then students will be allowed to use the restroom to change. If students are bus riders they MUST have a change of clothes. We encourage all students to have a change of clothes Students are encouraged to wear older shoes etc., or attire that you don't mind them getting stained with color. Please reach out to your grade level teachers with questions.

I hope that you all kept safe from the storms that moved through the area this afternoon. After speaking with the representative from Spring Lake we have made the decision to cancel the trip out there for tomorrow, May 22nd. 5th and 6th grade students will participate in their field day activities tomorrow morning and additional activities in the afternoon. If your child had planned to bring their own sack lunch, we ask that they still do that. Students who signed up for a sack lunch from school will still have that option. 5/6 Color run will still take place Friday, May 24th in the morning, students should wear their field day shirt or a white shirt to be colored. If you have further questions please reach out.

5th and 6th grade is still planning to attend Spring Lake tomorrow, May 22nd. We will be assess Spring Lake tomorrow morning and make a determination of if we will go or not first thing in the morning. Please plan to send your student in older clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting muddy. If we make the determination to stay at school we will have 5/6 complete their field day activities in the morning. 5/6 Color run will still be on Friday, May 24th in the morning. 7th and 8th grade students will still have field day as planned. We will continue to update and communicate as soon as decisions are made.

If you have an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree, or at least 60 credit hours of college coursework, you are eligible to take the Substitute Authorization Course. Greene County Community School District is in need of substitutes, and this course is a great opportunity to help our community. The Area Education Agency (AEA) offers an online option for the Substitute Authorization Course. However, we understand that some individuals might prefer in-person learning. If we receive 10 or more applicants, we can arrange for an AEA representative to teach the course in-person. Please note that you will be responsible for the cost of the course. Details on how to sign up and specific dates will be provided once you express your interest. Here is the cost breakdown for the Substitute Authorization: Class: $100 Book: $25 Processing: $85 LEC Fingerprinting: $25 Local Background Check (BoEE): $35 Federal Background Check (paid directly to Fieldprint): $40 For any questions or to express your interest in the course, please contact Chelse Sanderson at sandersonch@greenecountycsd.net.

An update regarding our upcoming Field Day event. Due to the flexible nature of our schedule and the various events planned for Field Day, we have made the decision to limit attendance to students only. This decision was made to ensure the smooth running of activities and to accommodate the various events taking place concurrently with Field Day. While we understand that parents often look forward to attending such events, we believe that this adjustment will allow us to provide the best experience for our students and ensure that they can fully participate in all planned activities. Rest assured, we will be capturing the highlights of the day through photos and videos, which we will gladly share with you afterward. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us.

Field Day will take place on Tuesday, May 21st for 5th and 6th grade and Wednesday, May 22nd for 7th and 8th grade . As part of the excitement, we are offering the opportunity for students to order a commemorative Field Day shirt to wear on the day of the event. As part of the events we are doing a color run, this white shirt will serve as a canvas for the color that will be thrown at the runners.  To order your child's Field Day shirt, please follow the link provided below: www.mygearccd.com/spirit_shop The deadline for shirt orders is Sunday, May 12th, so be sure to place your order promptly to ensure your child receives their shirt in time for Field Day.
