Parents,
Tomorrow, we will begin MAP Testing (Measures of Academic Progress). All students in grades 9-11 will participate in MAP testing. MAP is used to measure a student's progress or growth in school in the areas of Reading and Math. MAP tests are adaptive and the level of difficulty adjusts based on student answers, so they provide an accurate view of a student’s progress. They are important because they let teachers know where a student's strengths are and if help is needed in specific areas. Teachers use this information to help them guide instruction in the classroom and to reteach skills during our Seminar time.
Please talk to your son or daughter tonight about the importance of doing their best on these tests. The results of their MAP test will be mailed home to you soon after the testing period. We want to be able to send you accurate information on your child’s abilities and not something that does not reflect their skill-set.
Our main goal is to have every student grow each time we take these tests (3 times a year). With your help, we will be one step closer to making that happen.

The junior class chili supper fundraiser is tonight in the high school commons. Serving time is from 5:00-8:00 p.m., with carryout available on the north side of the building from 5:00-6:00 p.m. Homemade chili, cinnamon rolls, and a beverage are available for a free will donation. All proceeds go toward the 2023 prom. The Ram wrestlers are in action beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Greene County Community School will be holding the monthly board meeting at the admin building (101 Ram Drive, Jefferson, IA) this evening beginning at 5:15 PM. The public is welcome to attend. Due to poor road conditions, Greene County Schools will be dismissing one hour early and canceling all evening activities. Please use caution when traveling on local roads.
Greene County High School and Greene County Career Academy students teamed up to bring nonperishable items to support the KG98 Caring Christmas Program and to help "Fill Doug Rieder's Big Red Van." After we loaded his van, Doug delivered the items to our local food pantry.
Career Academy students from each of the career pathways were interviewed by Doug Rieder on December 9th. Students shared what they are learning in their classes and how these career pathways and Iowa Central classes will benefit them in their futures.
We thank Doug Rieder for doing these remotes both days--Wednesday, December 7th, with our high school Career and Technical (CTE) students and Friday, December 9th, with our Career Academy students. We also thank the businesses and individuals who paid for these ads. We appreciate your support for all of our CTE students!

The high school Coffee Shop will be closed from Monday Nov. 7th - Monday November 28th due to Trimester Testing, the start of a new trimester, and Thanksgiving break. We will be back on our normal schedule, Tuesday November 29th.
Please join us at Greene County High School on November 12th at 7 pm for Java & Jazz. This is a freewill donation concert, and this year our featured jazz group is the Jazz Ensemble from Iowa State University. Guests can enjoy Greene Bean Coffee while the GCHS Jazz Band performs a short set and then proceed to the auditorium to watch ISU. We hope to see you there!

Attention parents of MS/HS band students! Band students should arrive at the HS band room Thursday (10/27) at 6:30 PM. The concert will begin at 7:00. Costumes are optional and should not prevent students from playing their instruments. The 6th, 7th, 8th, and HS bands will perform.
Dear Greene County CSD Families and Community Members,
In an effort to improve our school security, a measure that we have taken is to install video security door access systems, also known as A-Phones. These will operate similar to a door bell with a video camera, however, it is another layer of security that we can take prior to allowing outside guests or visitors access to our schools. Our exterior doors will remain locked throughout the day.
Beginning November 1st, all public traffic, students or families arriving after building-specific hours will be routed to our main entrances. Office receptionists will “buzz in” guests, visitors, and students individually. We expect these systems to be fully implemented and operational at each building by November 1st.

The Greene County Rams will be hosting Union LaPorte City for first round football playoff action on Friday. All tickets for the game will need to be purchased online. No cash sales will take place at the game so fans will need to come to the game with their digital tickets. Tickets can be purchased on the IHSAA website.
