Dear Parents and Families:
Get Ready! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming our way (YAY!). Choosing their own books empowers kids and inspires them to become Bolder, Prouder, and Stronger Readers. AND—as always—every book they buy earns rewards for our school.
Here’s what you need to know about the Fair, which will take place from April 10th-14th at the Greene County Middle School Library. This year, say goodbye to cash and hello to eWallet—your child’s digital payment account. Before the Fair, set up eWallet for worry-free, cash-free purchases. Anyone can contribute! Share each child’s eWallet so friends and family can add funds and give your kids more books to enjoy.
If you can’t make it to the Fair, then shop at our school’s Online Book Fair. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Your online orders will also benefit our school.
Visit our Book Fair homepage to learn more and get started with eWallet and online shopping: https://www.scholastic.com/bf/greenecomiddleschool2
The countdown to more Bookjoy is on! Catch you at the Fair!
Happy reading,
Mr. Shawn Zanders
Principal
Greene County Middle School

Mr. Josh Carlson's eighth grade industrial technology enCore students left class today with the name plaques they created. They used AutoCAD to design their name plaque and then moved to the shop to use the scroll saw to cut and shape it. This was their final for this rotation, and as you can see by the picture, the students really enjoyed this project.

Ten students in grades four through eight participated in the health-care career exploration camp held after school at the Greene County Career Academy on Monday, February 27th.
Shelby Cooklin and Deb Wolterman from Greene County Public Health facilitated several activities for this group. Students got to learn about CPR and the AED device and then put into practice what they learned by doing CPR and using the AED device on the manikins. This was a highlight for the students, and they did a great job.
February is National Heart Association Month, and students learned several pieces of important information to help improve their lifestyle. We start each camp out with healthy snacks to get them in the mindset for healthy eating. They discussed ways to keep moving, what to eat, and how to reduce stress. They used the pulse oxygen meter before and after exercise to see how their pulse rate goes up and down with activity.
March is the education/paraeducator career pathway for students. To register, please contact ISU Extension Youth Director Samantha Hardaway at 515.386.2138.
