Our last Fab Friday occurred in March due to the 6-8th graders going on a ski trip! None the less our "Nacho" Average staff was treated to a nacho bar provided by the following families: Mary Pedersen, Trena Gustoff, Ashley Johnston, Megan Fouch, Omega Sang, Alli Clopton-White, Jeri Hedges.
We can't thank all the families who helped make these days happen enough! Our staff is beyond grateful!

GCMS Student Council is hosting a Glow Dance for 5th-8th graders. The dance will be held March 22nd from 6:30-8:30 at GCMS. Admission $5 with glow accessories for sale for $1 each.
Dress is "dressy casual" with school dress code still being enforced.

Friday our staff was spoiled yet again with some "Sweet Treats"!

On Thursday, February 15th, we had our Health Care Career Exploration Camp at the Greene County Career Academy. The youth learned about heart health, CPR, AED use, and hand washing. A big thank you to Greene County Public Health Director Becky Wolf and Public Health Nurse Shelby Cooklin for helping lead this class!



Greene County Schools will have a two hour late start for Friday, February 16th.
There will be no morning preschool or Athletic Performance classes.
Please take the additional time to arrive safely to the schools.

GCMS Student Council students traveled to Regency Park yesterday to spread cheer on Valentine's Day with the residents!

With Valentine's Day tomorrow, we want to remind you that anything that doesn't fit in a student's backpack (balloons, flowers, glass containers, etc.) will not be allowed on the bus. If your child has something at school that does not fit in their backpack, it will need to be picked up in the office. Thank you for your help keeping our buses safe!

8th grade Students in Mrs. Mohr's Literacy class studied the history of the Holocaust. They read the play, "The Diary of Anne Frank." Yesterday students were able to experience a virtual reality of the Secret Annex where Anne Frank lived for three years before being captured. The pictures below are some of the students participating in the virtual reality experience. District Technology Director, Brent Gerzema assisted students with the task and Instructional Coach Mrs. Schmit and Principal Ms. Osborne were also able to participate in this amazing experience.







GCMS had a "Souper" Fab Friday! We celebrated our staff and the Super Bowl by having soups and sandwiches! We couldn't have done it without the support of the following FAB GCMS Families:
Nina McDonald, Megan Fouch, Lorelle Hinote, Candace Louk, Molly Ritter, Aubrey Rossmanith, Kelley McCane and Hy-vee!

Tomorrow's 8th grade boys basketball at Nevada (2/9/24) has been cancelled. There will be no make up date. 7th grade will be played as scheduled.
Congratulations to the following students who have earned High Honor Roll and Honor Roll for 2nd Quarter at GCMS. High honor roll is for students earning all A's in quarter 2 and students earning Honor Roll earned all A's and B's for quarter 2.
We are very proud of all their hard work and academic achievement! Keep up the good work!

Tomorrow morning, each of our schools will be entering into a lockdown drill to ensure that we are practicing and efficient with our emergency drills. The emphasis that we will have with our students will be as follows:
Students report to the nearest classroom
Close, cover, and lock all doors and windows
Shut off lights
Move all occupants away from doors and windows
Ignore all bells/alarms unless otherwise instructed
Await further instruction
We appreciate any conversations you may have with your child(ren) this evening in regards to this important safety event that will be taking place tomorrow morning at all three schools.

GCMS Student Council worked together to create a wall of hearts! They invited students from school to write what they love about a teacher, friends, or school on the hearts. This display of kindness will hang up in the cafeteria for the month of February. There are many messages of love, kindness, and thankfulness!
